Trauma-Biomechanik

Die Trauma-Biomechanik erforscht die Bewegung des Menschen und die auf ihn einwirkenden Kräfte bei Unfall- und Verletzungsvorgängen mit dem Ziel den Zusammenhang von Unfall, entstehender Belastung des Körpers und resultierender Verletzung zu klären. Sie verwendet dabei die Begriffe, Methoden und Gesetzmäßigkeiten der Mechanik.

Die Ergebnisse dieser Forschung bilden die Grundlage für die Entwicklung von Maßnahmen zur Minimierung des Risikos von Verletzungen als Folge mechanischer Belastung. Ohne grundlegende Kenntnis der Verletzungsmechanismen und der mechanischen Belastbarkeit des Menschen ist eine zielgerichtete Verletzungsprävention nicht möglich.

Erkenntnisse der Trauma-Biomechanik finden ihre Anwendung im Bereich der Fahrzeugsicherheit, aber auch in der Arbeitssicherheit oder auf dem Gebiet der Sicherheit in Sport und Freizeit. Darüber hinaus setzt die Forensik häufig Wissen aus der Trauma-Biomechanik ein, um Klarheit in Rechtsfällen zu schaffen.

Trauma biomechanics does detailed research in the motion of the human body and how the body reacts to forces applied to it in the course of accidents and other injury inflicting situations. It aims at finding out about the correlation of the accident itself, the applied load on the human body and the resulting injuries using terms, methods and laws of mechanics.

The results of this research form the basis for the development of measures to reduce the risk of injury induced by mechanical loads. Effectively preventing injuries form occurring is only possible with in-depth knowledge of injury mechanisms and human tolerance limits to mechanical loads in accident situations.

The findings of trauma biomechanis cannot only be implemented in the fields of vehicle and working safety but used in enhancing general safety in leisure and sports as well. Furthermore the forensic sciences use the knowledge of trauma biomechanics to solve legal cases.

In everyday live accidents can occur almost everywhere and at any time.
